Bombardier Unveils the latest additions to the Global Family

The Private Suite

The Conference Suite

The Conference Suite

These two aircraft are set to revolutionise private jet charter even further, pushing the boundaries with an even longer range and a larger cabin than any other aircraft in their classes. They'll boast the first new seat architecture in business aviation in 30 years, with the brand new Nuage seat replacing traditional traditional aircraft seats.Clean lines, refined materials, and highly functional design characteristics have been intentionally developed to deliver absolute comfort and productivity.

The Bathroom

The Bathroom

The cabin has been designed for maximum efficiency and has three distinct areas for passengers to enjoy, whilst maintaining a spacious, open plan feel. The club suite comprises the first section of the cabin, providing a roomy space with the brand new ergonomic Nuage seats, with concealable tables. Move through to the conference suite - a highly versatile space for dining or work. There's also an exclusice Nuage chaise, a comfortable spsce to lounge and read, which can also be converted into a flat space for sleeping or extra seats at the dining table. The private suite is found at the rear, in the quietest part of the cabin. It can be completely closed off and converted to a space with a flat bed - complete with an en suite bathroom with a shower.

Bombardier have created an industry leading flight deck, which boasts the only system to seamlessly merge enhanced and synthetic vision images in a single view, which reduces crew workload and allows the clearest view through the toughest weather. And not only the pilots, have had an upgrade. The front ofthe cabin features a seperate rest area and toilet for your crew, ensuring everyone's privacy and comfort throughout the flight.

The Global 5500 and 6500 both feature brand new purpose built Rolls-Royce Pearl engines, which provide greater efficiency and power, so you can fly further and faster. A nect generation wing also means your flight will be even smoother than before.

This announcement also came with the news of a name change for the new Global 7000 - to the Global 7500, which is currently in the final stages of certification.

The Global 5500 and 6500 are expected to become available to charter in 2020, with certification planned to come at the end of 2019. To be the first to hear about this, sign up to our newsletter! What Food can be Served on a Private Jet?

It's not unusual on a private jet flight for the pilot or crew to cater to your exact needs when it comes to food. we frequently receive a wide range of questions when it comes to catering for private jet charter - today we'll answer the most common!

Private Jet Charter | Luxury Travel | Private Jet Catering | Private Jet Hire | Business Jets | Jet Sharper

VIP Catering is provided as standard

The nature of your food will be tailored to the time of day and length of your flight. This could include a selection of cold meats, a tray of sandwiches or a fruit platter for a shorter flight on a small jet. Longer flights tend to take place on a larger aircraft, which will usually have the capability to serve hot food - and you're able to request this in advance.

Corporate airliners, long range jets and some medium jets will have a flight attendant on board to serve your food and drinks throughout the flight. Smaller executive private jets will usually have catering laid out for passengers to help themselves to, but if you would prefer to have a flight attendant with you in the air, we are able to arrange this for you on any aircraft.

Special requests

Anything is possible! Many clients like to have food of their choice on board, and we will make every effort to arrange this - subject to availability and suitability for the aircraft. Some passengers may request lavish menus, but it might be surprising to hear that many of our requests are for incredibly simple dishes.

There are catering providers at each Fixed Base Operator (FBO) that will prepare your requested food and ensure it is on the aircraft for your flight. Each passenger is able to order their own food, even if it is completely different from the next. Private jet travel is tailored to you and your needs, and it is not unreasonable to request something completely different for each member of your party. This is often the case if parties are travelling with children, who may prefer to eat something as simple as turkey dinosaurs whilst the adults can indulge with their meal choice!

Some of our most common food requests for private jet catering include sushi, pizza, cured meat platters, sandwiches and pastries. You can see there is no upper or lower limit to the complexity of your tailored menu. That being said, if you fancy food from a particular retailer - such as Nando's - we are usually able to arrange this for you and have it delivered fresh to the aircraft in time for takeoff. Sometimes, you choose private jet hire for a special occasion. Items such as flowers or birthday cake on board can absolutely be organised - just let us know. Extra catering will usually involve an extra cost, but this will be included in your overall charter quote (read more about how much private jet charter really costs here).

Drinks on Board

There will always be tea, coffee and soft drinks available on any flight, regardless of duration or the time of day. Alcohol is also served on most flights, although this is not possible in certain circumstances within the Middle East. Drinks such as champagne are available as standard on many aircraft, but can be arranged for any flight if this is requested beforehand.

Missed your Scheduled Flight? How Quickly can you get a Private Jet?

One of the beauties of private jet charter is that there are no fixed schedules, and it's totally possible to book a flight at the very last minute. Circumstances depending, we can usually have you airborne in just a few hours.

If you've missed your scheduled flight and have somewhere you need to be urgently, booking a private jet can be the best way to go. Commercial airlines only run a fixed number of flights per day, so the next one going to your destination may not get you there in time. Not to mention that availability is limited on commercial flights, especially during busy periods.

A private jet can get you to where you need to be, fast. When we receive an urgent request for a flight, our first stop is to see if there are any private jets already at your departure airport, since this eliminates the need for an aircraft reposition and gets you airborne sooner. If there are none on the ground, we'll look at nearby airports with the shortest possible repositioning time. Minimising repositioning can also help keep costs down.

Every urgent request we get (we class within 24 hours as urgent), our priority is making everything happen as fast as possible. During the private jet booking process, there are several steps that can slow the process down, and we manage each of them effectively.

  • Operator approval, which we wait for after we've sent off a request to confirm availability and the price. We'll always let the operator know that the process is urgent.
  • Crew. This is a minor one, but they are always necessary to fly! They'll need to be sourced and make their way to the airport, but often they are already nearby.
  • Repositioning. If your aircraft isn't already on the ground at your departure airport, there is a waiting period whilst your private jet flies in to collect you.
  • Payment. This is usually the longest wait, as payments can take a while to clear. We'll always do our best to make sure that it has a minimal impact on getting you in the air.

So, factors depending, you can be airborne in as little as two hours if you need to fly urgently. Whatever your reason for flying, we would love to help you organise your trip. We are available for consultation 24 hours a day, so last minute requests can be processed at any hour. Get in touch with one of our private jet charter experts and let us tailor a schedule to suit you +44(0) 203 880 9005.

Business Jets or Business Class?

Business Jets or Business Class?

Business Jets or Business class, similar in some ways, very different in others. We took a look into the benefits of using a business jet over business class.

business class | private jet | jet hire |
business class | private jet | jet hire

Time

A huge factor for anyone who travels regularly for business purposes! Business class is a pleasant experience, with many commercial airports offering  separate security queues and lounges for these customers. However, this doesn't automatically reduce your total time spent travelling. With a business jet, you're able to arrive up to just 15 minutes before your scheduled departure time, with the option to arrive sooner and enjoy lounge facilities if you wish. We are also able to provide for most catering requests and include this in the charter price, meaning employees can eat anything whilst in the air. A small touch maybe, but reducing the number of things to do on the ground can really help reduce the overall duration of the journey.

Private jets also have generally shorter flight times than commercial aircraft, due to the fact that we fly higher and have more direct routings in to the arrival airport. We thought a side by side comparison of the time taken by a business jet charter versus a commercial trip would give a better insight, so you can see a breakdown and just how much time you could potentially win back. We have based this on one of our more common business routes - London (office situated in Canary Wharf) to Dublin City Centre for a meeting at 11am. This is a common occurrence due to the large number of tech companies based in Dublin.

Immediately you can see that flying commercially can cost you more than an entire working day, whereas a business jet charter allows your employees to start their day at the usual time, and still be back in the office for the afternoon. Not only this, but flying commercially limits you to flying at the times of the airline, which can leave large chunks of wasted time in between flights and meetings. The commercial flight is also best case scenario, and you have no control over any delays which may cause you to miss crucial meetings or lengthen the trip even further.

Convenience

Although time spent at the airport plays a part in this, chartering a private jet for business also gives you many more options. Being much smaller than commercial aircraft, private jets are able to fly into smaller airports that may be much closer to your final destination and therefore reducing your transfer time. When flying with a commercial airline you are limited to their schedule, but if you charter your own jet you have full control over when you travel. Business jet hire can be fully worked around your needs, and there is even potential to have facilities for employees to sleep on a flight back from a business trip, allowing them to be ready to get back to work the next day - potentially removing the need for an overnight stay. Private jet cabins are also pressurised to an altitude usually around 2000ft lower than those of commercial aircraft,  this greatly reduces the impact on the human body that flying can have, such as fatigue and dehydration, allowing you to be working at full capacity sooner after landing.

business class | jet hire | private jet

Productivity

A business jet is all yours for the duration of your flight, and other passengers looking over your shoulder is one thing you shouldn't have to worry about. The aircraft can essentially become a flying boardroom so that business can go on as usual with minimal disruption. Wifi is now available on many private jets (read more about it here), so you don't even need to disconnect from your colleagues whilst you fly. We understand how important it is to maximise the productivity of employees, or even make the most of a contractors hourly rate, so from booking to post flight feedback, we ensure that the process is smooth and requires minimal time input from Personal Assistants or travel bookers, compounding the benefit of charter.

Cost

Buying a business class ticket for just one person may work out cheaper than chartering an entire jet, but there are definitely circumstances where charter is the more cost effective option. This may be if you need to send several employees on the same trip, and chartering one plane could well be cheaper than buying multiple business class tickets for a flight. And as previously mentioned, a private jet is usually able to fly much closer to your destination, reducing the cost of transfer time after the flight. Empty legs may also be an option, we will always see if there are any aircraft heading to, or from your destination around when you need to travel, as these aircraft can be priced up to 75% off the usual charter price.

Pilatus PC-24 Now Certified

Pilatus PC-24 Now Certified

We are delighted to ANNOUNCE that the long-awaited private jet by Pilatus, THE PC-24 is now both FAA and EASA Certified; meaning this aircraft will soon be available to charter. It comes as no surprise that this falls perfectly within the predicted timeframe, how very Swiss!

Image from: Pilatus Aircraft

Image from: Pilatus Aircraft

This is the first time that Pilatus has ventured into the private jet space, having previously produced the incredibly successful PC-12, a single-engined turboprop aircraft. It's actually one of the only single-engined aircraft that has been certified for charter in Europe.

The PC-24 is being dubbed the 'Super Versatile Jet' this is due to its unrivalled short take-off and landing (STOL) capability. This carries many qualities over from its younger brother the PC-12, with its proven track record for being reliably versatile.  This aircraft will have the ability to land and take off from non-paved surfaces - including grass and dirt strips. This is a huge benefit for the charter market, where these conditions have previously confined passengers to the turboprop alternatives, which tend to have reduced range and speed over a private jet.

Image from: Pilatus Aircraft

Image from: Pilatus Aircraft

Another huge benefit of the PC-12 was its huge rear cargo door, and we are super excited the PC-24 will also boast this feature - giving it an edge over it's nearest rivals such as the Phenom 300 and Citation XLS/Latitude. This aircraft is proving to be every but as exciting as it was predicted to be, perhaps even more so now. With a plethora of superior features over the competition, could we be looking at the Swiss Army Knife of private jets? The Swiss Army Jet perhaps?

Image: Pilatus Aircraft

The PC-24 can be configured to offer a 6 seat luxury corporate jet with plenty of luggage space and, most importantly, a fully enclosed lavatory! The aircraft can also be arranged as a 4 seat business/executive jet with additional cabin and cargo space.

When can you charter the PC-24?

Now certified, Pilatus can start delivering almost immediately. We are expecting the first deliveries to be within the next couple of weeks, meaning you should be able to charter one early in 2018!

This is an exciting time for Pilatus, with the new single engined charter regulations and now with the launch of the PC-24, it's looking to be an incredible year for them!

We will be offering the PC-24 to charter as soon as the first one becomes available, so get in touch with one of our private jet charter experts today and let us tailor a schedule to suit you on +44(0) 203 880 9005.

Astute Explores Hamburg Christmas Markets

Following our post about visiting the European Christmas markets this winter, we paid Hamburg a visit for a short, snowy trip to the markets there.

Astute Aviation | Hamburg Christmas Markets | Private Jet Charter | Jet Sharper | Jet Hire

An early morning flight had us watching the sunrise over the clouds, before touching down with a full day ahead to explore and experience everything that Hamburg has to offer at Christmas.

The city centre contains several smaller clusters of stalls on the walk to the Rathaus, which is where the main attraction lies. We also managed to pass by the Winterwald, where dense trees and wood chips on the ground create a mini winter forest atmosphere amid the bustle of the city. The stalls here are almost entirely dedicated to food, housing many sweet and savoury german treats alongside some international specialities, such as freshly made paella, pizza and kebabs - including one large wooden hut boasting a log fire which was smoking meats and fish.

Astute Aviation | Hamburg Christmas Markets | Mulled Wine | Private Jet Charter | Jet Sharper | Gluehwein | Jet Hire

Overlooked by the city hall and a huge Christmas tree, the main market has everything you'd expect from a German experience at this time of year.  You're immediately greeted by large stalls selling Gluehwein - the original and some varieties, accompanied by the aroma of cooking meats further down. Walk in between the huts to find stalls selling all sorts of gifts, from candles and ornaments through to fur goods - you're sure to find a perfect souvenir! All the foods sold here are traditional German, and there is still a huge amount to choose from. We tried out some Bratwurst and Currywurst right before it started to snow, where a hot cup of mulled wine and some pancakes went down perfectly.

Astute Aviation | Hamburg Christmas Markets | Bratwurst | Private Jet Charter | Jet Sharper | Jet Hire

There are a handful of other markets scattered across the city, some of which we did not have the chance to visit. The atmosphere at the central Christmas market outside the Rathaus certainly crowned it as the highlight of the city, and is an absolute must-see. The majority of the markets are open for business until December 23rd, so there's still time to go and experience it for yourself! Private jet charter makes it possible to visit Hamburg just for the day, eliminating the need for an overnight stay and avoiding the chaos of flying commercially over the Christmas period.

With summer in full swing, we thought it would be good to shed some light on the most popular European Islands for private jet's

Private Jet to Mykonos | Astute Aviation

As you would expect, islands are incredibly popular destinations for private jet customers during the summer season. High demand for slots at these airports means that we encourage our customers to look into their bookings earlier than they normally would.

Sun, sea at every turn & sand, these islands have all of it, which is one of the reasons they are so popular with private jet setters.

So without further ado, let's get into our top 5 islands by private jet and give you an idea of what it could cost to get there.

Private Jet From London To New York City

Private Jet From London To New York City

New York City, The Big Apple, The City That Never Sleeps. London to New York is one of our most popular private jet routes.

When people think about private jet hire, they would normally assume they would be used for short trips this however is not strictly the case. We have found one of our more popular private jet routes is from London to New York. While you would be correct in thinking that private jets would mainly be used for short-haul flights, this route is certainly our most popular Long-haul routing.

Private jets offer the ultimate flexibility, so it's hardly surprising that we see so many flights between these two international financial powerhouses. We see a high number of our corporate clients booking these flights,  flying by private jet offers them ultimate level of privacy, comfort and above all speed.  Not only does a private jet fly faster and higher (with a lower cabin altitude which reduces fatigue) than a commercial aircraft, you don't have to be at the airport 3 hours before departure which further contributes to reduced stress and fatigue, just turn up 20 minutes before departure, grab a coffee and walk onto the aircraft. At airports such as London Luton we will pre-clear your flight with customs & immigration to ensure your transition in New York  is smooth.

We see people chartering private jet's to New York for a number of reasons, whether they're business people utilising the time saving aspect of using a private jet or flying for leisure. When it comes to long-haul private jet flights, the cost can really vary depending on the aircraft you choose and the duration/distance of the flight so we wanted to give you an idea!

Why Music Artists Use Private Jets

Why Music Artists Use Private Jets

When it comes to the music industry, private jets are essential.

This is particularly true when it comes to electronic dance music producers, with so many festivals tightly squeezed into the summer months many music artists practically need to cut themselves in two just to make all these appearances, a good number of them playing two or three sets, each different countries and all on the same day!

Obviously they cant cut themselves in two, but using a private jet is the next best thing. Unlike flying on conventional airline flights where more often than not you spend more time in the airport and waiting for scheduled flights than actually flying. When flying on a private jet, you don't have to worry about scheduled services and long waits, you simply turn up at the private departure lounge, pick up any of the complimentary refreshments you fancy, then whisked through a private security area and onto the waiting jet, doors closed and engines running within 15 minutes of arriving at the airport. This saves on average 3 hours per flight, assuming the scheduled flight departs on time and works perfectly with the artists schedule.

When they hire a private jet, they also get more direct routings, meaning the total time in the air is less. This is incredibly valuable when it comes to music travel, with some artists chartering a jet for 4 months at a time so they can move freely, making sure they reach all their shows. People like Martin Garrix do this every year, usually basing themselves our of Ibiza as they will often have a residency in one of the major clubs out there.

A typical day for them could look something like this:

Pool Party at Ushuaia, Ibiza

-

Private Jet to Brussels, Belgium

-

Close Main Stage - Tomorrowland, Belgium

-

Private Jet back to Ibiza, Spain

-

Late set at Hï, Ibiza

Another reason music artists choose to fly privately is due to the amount of attention they get walking through the airport, although they love the interaction with fans, it can be incredibly distracting when preparing for a huge show.  This, mixed with the fact they usually have lots of equipment with them, can make it quite difficult to put incredibly expensive pieces of kit in the hold of the aircraft without worrying that it will get damaged or not arrive at the right location on time, this would really ruin the day!

People often think that music artists operate alone, this is not the case. To use Martin Garrix as an example, he has an entourage of around 6 people at any one time, booking airline seats on the same flight for this number of people consistently through a show season is very tough, and this is often the only true down time the team get's. When flying by private jet, this just is not an issue, they can sleep, work, eat or whatever they want to do without fear of someone disturbing them, or looking over their shoulder when creating a new track.

The way we see it, private aviation make the modern music scene possible, without it, it just simply wouldn't be possible for these artists to be in all the places they need to be, when they need to be there.

There are many other reasons that music artists would charter a private jet, however these are a few reasons our clients within the music industry choose to charter with us.

It makes perfect sense to us, this just adds another fold to our offering. We are a customer-centric business here, and we know they will just love this new addition. It’s always great to be working with progressive, industry-leading businesses so we are looking forward to developing this new partnership.
— Zac Hancox, Astute Aviation CEO

This is the first time a private jet charter company and a VIP nanny service have joined forces to offer this out to their clients. This gives our professional clients the opportunity to maximise their careers, without sacrificing family life.

On the other hand, this gives our leisure clients the opportunity to escape parent life, even fleetingly. They can have the first couple of days of a vacation alone to relax and unwind, before we deliver their little VIP's to them later on in the holiday.

We are very excited about adding this to our offering, it comes just in time for the summer season and will be available on all of our chartered flights.  When chartering a private jet, luxury dining is a given but for little VIP's turkey dinosaurs and chips is often a preferred option, which is something we can make happen for them!

Wether you're looking to charter for business, or pleasure let us tailor your Astute Experience, why stay grounded?
